Pumpkin Dog Treats Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 cup canned pumpkin puree (unsweetened, not pie filling)
- 2 1/2 cups whole wheat flour (or oat flour for gluten-free)
- 1/4 cup peanut butter (make sure it’s xylitol-free)
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)
Instructions:
- Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. - Mix the Wet Ingredients:
In a large bowl, combine the pumpkin puree, peanut butter, and eggs. Stir until well blended. - Add the Dry Ingredients:
Gradually add the flour and cinnamon (if using) to the wet mixture, stirring until a stiff dough forms. You may need to use your hands to knead the dough as it becomes thicker. - Roll Out the Dough:
Lightly flour your work surface and roll out the dough to about 1/4-inch thickness. - Cut Out the Treats:
Use a cookie cutter in your desired shape (bone, paw print, etc.) to cut out the treats. Place them on the prepared baking sheet. - Bake:
Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the treats are firm and golden brown. For a crunchier texture, you can leave them in the oven with the heat turned off for an additional 10-15 minutes. - Cool:
Allow the treats to cool completely on a wire rack before serving. - Store:
Store the treats in an airtight container for up to a week, or freeze for longer storage.
